So this week's post is my valentine's gift to my wife, I'm a day late, sorry babe...this song came about in the month prior to our wedding last November and it expresses what was going through my mind then. I suppose these words could have been my vows but I got really confused with vows and speeches and I ended up giving a speech as a vow and not using these words at the wedding.
On this tune I play Zack Harman's drums, Richie's glockenspiel, and the rest is my gear; I use a couple of different acoustic guitars, bass and a lap steel guitar. The lap steel was making things real "country," which was ok, but I wanted this to be a little different so I sang some vocal harmonies that were originally supposed to be kinda "Beach Boys-y" but ended up sounding like a cat-choir. Yeehaw boys!
(I know no one wants to hear about this clown-town-brown, but what's more country than this douche playing a G chord on the wrong fret? AND the dude behind him with the awesome goatee is like "hey douche, gimme back my guitar!")

Here's the lyrics:
WHEN YOU CALL
We're getting close
To the long waited day
We've made it past our own troubles and weathered
Difficult times
But the day is only a symbol of what happened
And what lies ahead,
It only reminds us that we've come to
An understanding
That we count on:
You know
When you call I'll always answer
When things are complicated
You know
I'm not afraid of the best or the worst days
Is it the time that's ripe,
History that chose the words we'll say?
Are we immune to clashing opinions
When choices are made?
I think we are the children of our time
Much as we chose our own way.
And when we can't agree we remember
Our understanding,
What we count on:
You know
When you call I'll always answer
When things are complicated
You know
I'm not afraid of the best or the worst days
And I know
When I call you'll always answer
When things are complicated
I know
You're not afraid of the best or the worst days
marcel, you are awesome!
give that kima a workout!
